Tourist assessment. ha ha. It's a way for the community to try to recover some of the infrastructure cost for supporting the tourist industry. Rather than putting all the costs on the residents, some costs are posed directly to the tourists. Well, that's the tax theory anyway. Hotel tax theory is an entire area of govenrment fiscal management and law. For example, when a travel agent books a room, the hotel collects tax against the amount of money the hotel gets and doesn't count tax against the amount that goes to the broker. There are huge class action suits in several states worth bazillions of bucks over this -- the states want more tax money and the hotels, well, they disagree.

I don't think there was any price difference between a single and a double...

I just went and pulled out the invoice. Here's the breakdown per night:

Room charge: 99.00

Room tax: 9.90

"Tourist Assessment" (what the HECK is THAT?!): 3.00

Total per night: 111.90

Total for 4 nights: 447.60

This is a minor screw up. As you know, the speaker rooms should have been charged by the hotel to the hotel and against them we should have had some comps from the hotel! So until we straighten this out, the hotel isn't giving us our comp roomnight. Larry is working on the stuff with the hotel.

I'll need to figure out the amounts for the Danes -- 6 roommnights at the double rate, right? ; the others should be easy since they were all just 2 roomnights. Your's/Dorothy is 4 nights at the doubles rate?

Tell me how much your bill is for the roomnights for you and dorothy and I'll have a check mailed out today. As we discussed at the convention, Dorothy was there for one more night so that's one less that's yours since you folks did the double thing.

Well, iirc, I think that covers it.

Hi Larry,

I was going to pay for my room for the two nights I stayed without Dorothy
(11/13, 11/14) But as of now, the whole hotel bill for Dorothy and me was
paid for on my card. Troels and Ole also paid on one of their cards.
