I am not certain what you mean. What money back? We
never had any money in them. :-)

The starwood points were in the contract. Yes, they
have no value other than if we have a convention at a
Sheraton property. This is a standard practice in the
event industry. We actually were supposed to get them
from Marriott the in 2003 but we closed out the bill
without getting them.

The value of the points is nominal but there is some
value to them. The reason they are in the contracts is
they are a way of giving what I consider "soft money"
to the event planner. 

In fact the idiot sales person at the hotel tried to
"buy me" with extra points (40K?) and platinum status
when I came after them, even after I clearly explained
that it has nothing to do with my personal bill which
I had paid in full with no issues. 

Yes, I literally laughed in his face and then he went
on to door number two, the $1800 cash credit.

Yep they have been a class act all the way. Now, you
know why I am demanding everything in writing from
them.

Our event planner "me" views them (Any rewards points
derived from an AGA event booking) as AGA property
unless otherwise agreed to by the AGA Board (ie we
decide to give them to a local club). At some point we
should probably consider getting a SPG and a Marriott
Rewards and Hilton Honors account for the AGA.

PS. I guess the real Julie McCoy never had to deal
with any of this because she worked directly for the
company that owned the ship.
