Subject: [AGA-sc] NEC

Hi Folks,

Jeff Senske is being a bit of a prima
donna about NEC... wants to fly first class, and will only work with
an ADA tank. (I think we have an Amano wannabe on our hands)  Add
to this the fact that the flights he booked don't have him getting in
until 3:25... the AGA meeting will be over by then.

He says he didn't "remember" he was
supposed to speak at that, but I made it very clear to him when we
first talked.  In any case, the options at this point
          are:

          1. Janine is going to try to get him to
agree to fly coach (NEC can't pay that much for a domestic speaker)

          2. She was willing to put him up an extra
night if he'll fly in Thursday to do the AGA meeting too.

          3. She and I decided that I'd do a
program if we can't get something worked out with him.

          4. I told her that if he got entirely
snooty about the first class, we could probably get Dennis Dietz to
fill in.  He does a beautiful job, is local, and would probably
          be thrilled to be invited.

But then, after I got off the phone with
her, I was wondering whether we (AGA) could/should offer to pay the
difference and let him fly 1st class if he'll come in time to speak at
the AGA session.  What do you think?  I didn't want to
mention it to Janine until I heard from you guys, but we've got to
move fast on this.  She's not planning on calling him until
tomorrow to let her blood pressure lower a bit<g> but then we
need to get this sorted out pronto.

I can be easily swayed in any
direction.  I'm ticked that he's acting this way, ticked that he
blew off the AGA meeting, but I'd like to offer it to our real
die-hard members who show up early for this meeting year after
year.  I feel like me doing something is a bit of an
afterthought, though as Janine pointed out, it has been several years
          since I spoke at NEC.

          Thoughts? Other options I haven't
          thought of?

          Karen
