About the Federation of American Aquarium Societies (FAAS)
The Federation of American Aquarium Societies (FAAS), formed in 1973, is a service organization of and for aquarium societies of North, Central and South America .
What does FAAS do?
FAAS helps aquarium and pond societies run better. FAAS acts as a way to share information between aquarium and pond clubs.
Our website includes articles about everything from getting volunteers, to running auctions and swap meets, to resolving conflict in your club.
FAAS also offers assistance to new clubs in the formative stages.
Who should use the FAAS.INFO site?
The FAAS audience is primarily the board and committee members of aquarium and pond clubs. If you run a club, or sit on the board, you?ll probably find some good ideas and resources on our site.
For example, we have 27 minute narrated video presentation on how to run a swap meet.
Who runs FAAS?
FAAS is run by a small cadre of volunteers from around the US and Canada . FAAS is a virtual organization. Board Members meet monthly for a phone and web conference.
How can I contribute to FAAS?
Like any volunteer organization, we?re always appreciative of offers to help!
Here?s what you can contribute:
o Articles about society-related matters
o Presentations to share with other clubs (FAAS pays for this content)
o Judging in our recognition programs
Who is Rick Borstein ?
I?m the President of FAAS. I also serve as Secretary of the Greater Chicago Cichlid Association and was the 2006 American Cichlid Association Convention Chairman. I have twenty-two aquariums and have bred about 130 species of fish.
