I agree.  Last year, it was getting the hotel that was the lynchpin of the
operation.  Though there are lots of areas I can (and will) help in the
convention, I am completely useless as a volunteer until this happens.

I think we need to make the announcement about 2007 ASAP.  I don't think
it matters that we're not ready for 2008, because we can make that
announcement later.  I think transparency is more important.  I never
really liked that SFBAAPS tried to keep their plans secret from us, so I
definitely feel uncomfortable that we're doing the same to the membership.

I think we can also announce that we are in the PROCESS of securing a
venue for 2008, but that it is not complete.  And that would be a good
lead-in for calling for volunteers for 2008 (and getting back to some who
helped in 2006 like JenThePlantGeek).
