Re: [AGA-sc] AGA 2008

If we're lucky, we won't have to pay for meeting rooms at all. The big kickers on the hotel deals are the meeting room charges and the banquet costs, and on top of all that, the guarantees for roomnights and banquets.

Larry will go after those things next, sliding scale and all that.

I just wanted to show that, those things notwithstanding, this all looks workable. I suspect we can draw over 100 if we keep the reg and banq fees under $100 as we have in the past. That might mean subsidizing some of the banq costs, but with good attendance, it shouldn't hurt us.

The 15% surcharges on the roomnights (hotel and sales tax) is a bit stiff, but it all seems workable.
Two other big unknowns are what speakers can we get -- once we have locked down the dates and what it will take to get an issue of TFH for the convention. It's certainly doable but we don't know what we will have to give. The lead time on that is going to be at least six months, probably longer, so there's much to do. . . But so far, we are on schedule. The tie-in with TFH and Amano should work in our favor and a special TFH issue might have a good positive impact on attendance.

Details to follow as they become available.

But doesn't the Hilton waive the fee if we make our roomnight?  Yeah,
short on details.
