[AGA-sc] Navarro stuff

We had Luis Navarro out to speak at our club last week, and he stayed at
our house as the first leg of "Kathy and Erik's Month of Guest Hell...did
I say Hell? I meant 'Fun!'" (My sister-in-law showed up the day Luis
left, and my parents arrive the day after she leaves, and one of our
nephews will be here right after that..but I digress.)

His talk was great -- really fired up our membership (me included).
He didn't do the demo like he'll do at NEC, just powerpoint, but there
were 15-20 minutes of questions to his 45-minute talk. He's gotten better
at his speaking since 2003, and with amplification there were no problems
understanding.

I've never seen our mailing list so active too. People looking for nerite
snails, shrimp, etc. Will be interesting to hear how the NEC goes.

Always interesting to hear the perspective of someone inside the whole
'system'. Some of it's obviously fit only to repeat over beers in the
hospitality suite, but also some useful info for our convention this year:

* Ghazanfar is now this hardcore crypt keeper, and might be a good choice
for a speaker. I gather he's gone to Europe to one of the meetings even.
Are we all lined up for speakers at this point?

* Luis is very close to the Senskes, and is surprised to hear Jeff is
speaking again. According to him, Jeff Senske doesn't like speaking.
He'd really rather not do that sort of thing, unless it's photography.
He's probably doing this because it's an opportunity to be there while
Amano's there. Larry, I'll talk to you more on this over the phone.

* Iron Aquascaper was very popular from the folks he's talked to/read
posts from, but Luis thinks Iwagumi challenge would be interesting because
Amano could judge it... hmm...

* ADA products are about to go up 40%, or may have already done so.

I'm sure I'll remember more later. Oh yeah, he was approached by
Luto/Ghori shortly after the 2006 convention, told "We're going to
revolutionize the AGA and we want you to help us!" and never heard a word
about it again. That was amusing.
