Re: [AGA-sc] contest? (fwd)

Obviously since it's ADG I could make the exception and hold it for them, or send a second letter to Japan. Larry, if you happen to talk with Jeff today, might you be able to feel out his mood on it all?

Thanks Erik. Looks like we were just too late on this one.Â

It's really tough -- because Amano is judging this year, I had to prepare
a set
of prints "special" just for him, which are now sitting all boxed up
ready to go
to the post office today. In addition, another judge from England is in
the
armed services and has lousy Internet access -- I sent him a CD with all
the
      entries earlier today.

I definitely could add the entries in on the website, but the risk at this
point is
they won't get judged properly. If you got the three "main" photos to me
tonight via
e-mail, I could slip them into Amano's package. I could also e-mail the other
judges
and note the late entry.

The website is locked at this point, so you'd need to e-mail me everything.

Glad you guys are doing all right.

Erik,ÂHope all is well with you!
We just got power on today after Hurricane Ike ravaged the area last week. I
mean
it really tore us up-- and we were without power for 6 days.
The whole city has been a mess-- long gas lines at the few stations that even
could open, no grocery stores for several days, the usual FEMA
mess, etc. Today was the first day that felt even remotely normal. Though I
shouldn't complain; I don't know if you saw any coverage, but some
parts of Galveston (like Bolivar Peninsula) were COMPLETELY destroyed. I mean
nothing left of whole areas-- completely gone. Galveston is
barely even inhabitable now, and whole beaches have disappeared.Â
Anyway, I was wondering if there was any chance at all that Mike and I might be
able to submit our entries late. I had them ready to go in
time-- I would have easily got them in over last weekend, but this hurricane
came
up on us on Thursday-- and we had toÂstartÂmaking serious
preparations. I evacuated my wife and kids, and began a mad dash to secure as
many clients as possible. Friday was insane, and it hit us on
Saturday-- no power from that point on. Sunday was shock and awe, and that
continued until about Tuesday/yesterday.Â
Just wanted to check. I have a Biotope entry and two planted tanks. We would
appreciate any consideration as the circumstances preventing our
timely entry were well beyond our control! Obviously I didn't just shoot the
tanks this week or anything!Â
I look forward to your reply.Â
