Hi Folks,
I have some sad news to pass on to all of you. Claus has
given me permission to share this with you, as he considers you his friends.
He has requested, though, that it go no further at this point in time.
Thanks,
Karen
I will stop as a full-time
employee at Tropica and move on to new challenges.
Dear friends
A turning point in my life is about to happen.
After nearly 25 years at Tropica, it is now clear
that I will stop as full-time employee at Tropica.
In 2004, I was involved in finding new investors.
In 2006 I decided that with the ambitious strategic plans, it was not me who
should manage the company in the future. At the time I knew well that there was
a risk that I would not be involved in the running of Tropica in the future.
The last year has been a tough year for me and
Tropica. Leadership shift, relocation of the company with major complications
including a fire in our Tissue Culture laboratory, non-delivery performance and
increased competition have all led to a very tight financial situation of
Tropica.
My director contract was renegotiated, starting
1st September of this year. It soon emerged that I and the new executive director
could not reach agreement on my future hiring. In
connection with a reorganization and another strategy shift, I am therefore
terminated with effect from 12/31/2009. After March 1, 2009, I am free from
work elsewhere. It is agreed, if possible, that I should be affiliated
Tropica as a consultant, mainly on product development and plant collection
trips. We will see! I will continue to help shape the plant aquarium hobby
development.
When it happens, it probably will not be so bad.
In the period up to January 1, 2010, I get a "free year" which I can
use to experience some of the things I like. What my
future main job will be, I have not yet decided! I have the ability to take my
time to find out. But I am looking at 2 options. Either a consultant job
with, among other things, information/ communication tasks, organizing travel, product advice and
participation in company boards or a full-time position in education and
information. I am open to new opportunities!
Many greetings
Claus Christensen
