If you don't mind using public transportation, and are starting from Market St., another option is to get on the number 38 bus that runs up Geary St. Get off at the Van Ness St stop, turn North (right) on Van Ness for 1/2 block, then East on Cedar (really just an alley). It's one of those things that's easy to get to, but hard to find. Anyway, someone also mentioned Nippon Goldfish, which also carries the odd apisto at times. That store is right on Geary, so get back on the same bus (speaking of bus route, of course) heading west and look at the stores on the south side of the street. It has, as mentioned, a big orange sign out front. Just get off when you see it, the bus stops on literally every block. If you get to the avenues, or the ocean, you've gone too far down Geary and need to backtrack. I'm not normally a big fan of public transp., but it makes a lot of sense in San Francisco, which was NOT built with the automobile in mind!
