compiling reference list for ASG website
Hi all,
I've just been given permission to start compiling a reference
list/bibliography for the Apistogramma Study Group web site. In my
obsessive wish to be thorough, I'm looking for some assistance in gathering
species specific and general references that may be of interest to people
working with dwarf cichlids. [If it helps, think of this as a first step in
making "mikewise.com" a reality.] All contributors will be acknowledged
online if I have anything to say about it.
If you have a reference list of your own already in a word processor,
database or spreadsheet, I would be most pleased if you'd share a copy. I'm
even willing to "cull" from longer/general lists if you're unable to take
the time to do it yourself. If you haven't moved your 3x5 card index to the
computer yet, I'll even take photocopies of the cards.
Also, if you have access to regional or non-U.S. publications and are
willing to help compile references from those, I would be most grateful.
Ich spreche Deutsch nicht so gut, y hablo solo poquito Espaniol. Other
languages I'm hopeless at, and overall I have NO idea what's available
internationally or in local organizations. Reference lists should be in the
original language [if in "western" script], but if you're able and willing
to give English title translations that would be wonderful.
If you wish to annotate your submissions with informative comments on any
of the articles or books on your list, that would be great as well, but is
not necessary.
Regardless, please contact me off-list (rhole@interaktv.com) before sending
anything, or starting a long search (greater than one minute), so there's
not too much duplicate effort (e. g. we don't need six people doing the
Michigan Cichlid Association newsletter and no one doing the Ann Arbor
Aquarium Association if we can help it). I also want to get the references
in as standard a format as possible, so if you're going to type them in,
I'll send you a "preferred format". This will make the information get
online faster.
Of course best yet would be if authors would like to not only provide lists
but copies of the articles themselves. I'll see that the ASG library gets
them right after I photocopy them.
Thanks in advance for your assistance. All offers of help gratefully
acknowledged.
Bob
