What's the point !! ph etc.

I was wondering if I could put blue rams in with my jewels and kribs.. My
tank is a ph of 7.3

I know the rams prefer slightly acidic water but if my fish are bought from
the LFS.. who really doesn't have any tank that isn't at least 7.5ph. Says
his fish are from loacl breeders that use tap water.. What's the point of
all the worry if I'm not going to breed them??
