I have spawned and raised rams in a Dutch tank 
enjoying 5x30w tubes.  Water depth may be a variable 
(the tank mentioned has 18 inches), and water clarity 
also (a little healthy tanin will filter out a lot of excess 
brightness at substrate level). 

The short story is your rams will be fine, and your tank 
will look great.
