Bare bottom tanks?

I was wondering what your guys opinions are on bare bottom tanks for
breeding. I have read that they are better because it is easier to see the
fry and easier to clean. I just recently set up some bare bottom tanks and
the fish just don't seem as happy as the fish in the tanks with gravel. Will
they get used to it? All the tanks have lots of caves and stuff, the only
difference being the gravel. Thanks for your advice!
