Jacques, In general, this is correct. Lower pH values produce more Pelvicachromis males. However each species or form has a different pH value where you produce equal numbers of males and females. The Common Krib (Pv. pulcher) has a 50/50 ratio at around pH 7. The Giant Krib (Pv. sp. aff. pulcher) has a 50/50 ratio at around 6.3. At this same pH (6.3) you get 75%+ male Pv. pulcher. The secret to getting the proper ratio of males and females depends upon finding each species' preferred pH value.
