According to Römer & Beisenherz's papers your temperature is correct for 50/50
ratios for most apisto species, including your aggies & macs. Many things can
skew the ratio in an uncontrolled environment, like the wild or even your tank.
Some wild ideas could be that males are generally more bold, and the bolder
juveniles get picked off first. Or the mature males can tell which juveniles are
males and eliminate them before they become outright competition. It's hard to
say, but let's face it, in nature it's more important to have more breeding
females than breeding males (unless you're a seashores!).
