Eric, I had the same experience with tubifex worms. The only tubifex I fed were frozen tubifex, but I once found "red wiggly worms" dancing out of the gravel. That was enough for me. No more frozen tubifex either. Could freezedried tubies ...?? Nah, impossible ... right???
