I think you can sex certain Apisto fry even earlier then that.I noticed this 
when I took a series of A.cacatuoides close up fry development photos.4-5 
week old A.cacatuoides fry had already developed male and female features 
such as rounded or pointed dorsal ,anal fin tips.
I found that to be really amazing.You can't see this with your bare eyes but 
good close up macro photos will reveal it.Other Apisto forms/species like 
A.sp.Rio Marmore drive me nuts when I'm trying to sex them even after three 
month of age.

3 months is about right Jerry. In fact I had to argue
with a bunch of these guys on the list when I first
told them I could sex and breed  my Apistos at 3- 4
months. Some told me they took 8 months on fish I was
breeding at 3 months. Your doing things right Jerry
water changes and good feeding. Bada Bing
