I think we are 'nit picking' here. Whether or not it is a 'new' species - which Mike didn't claim - it is a new population or color form that should become very popular in the hobby - if bred true & not crossed with other aggies. I'm not a purist like a certain doctor (or school teacher) that I know. So I'll continue to use aggie & apisto informally for agassizii & Apistogramma. BTW 'aggie' in marbles is informal for 'agates', which is what they were originally made from. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. ;-) Mike Wise David Soares wrote: > Yeh I know Mike I was just venting a little frustration, It can really > confuse things when these guys who don't really understand the situation > start hollering about a new fish and all that, I mean the picture is > confused enough with all the new fish without somemone who doesn't really > know what the story is to start talking about a new "aggie" and the use of > the shortened names (aggies! for god sake were marbles we had when we were > kids!) has been pretty much been beaten out of me by you know who! > Soft Water Dwarf Cichlids > David Soares & Uwe Romer > 14697 S Bluegrass LN > Sisters Or 97759 > apistodave@bendcable.com > www.apistogrammaidiots.com > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mike & Diane Wise" <apistowise@fgn.net> > To: <apisto@listbox.com> > Sent: Friday, August 23, 2002 8:58 AM > Subject: Re: new aggie > > > David, > > > > I don't know about the diet part, but the fish Mike pictures belongs to > the > > 'type' A. agassizii found mostly in the Rio Amazonas of Peru & Rio > Solimões of > > Brazil.
