fishroom smell

Hello,

OKay this is a weird question I know...

I have a fishroom that is heated with about 35tanks in it filled with water 
plants and filters. (oh yah and fish) Anyway I have been insanely busy with 
school, work and life, thus my tanks have been severely neglected. Now the 
room smells bad, is this just from the tanks being dirty? or should I go 
looking for a dead fish somewhere? Does this happen even if you keep your 
tanks clean?
