Colin, The photo is not good enough for ID purposes. All of the dark markings are missing except for the lateral band & caudal spot. That being said, the fish pictured might be one of the many A. resticulosa-like forms, but the lateral band doesn't show the typical zigzag shape. It's more likely an urteagai-complex form which has a more even edged lateral band. Forms of the urteagaicomplex normally show a short downward 90º break at the posterior end of the lateral band (actually a darker part of Bar 7 on the caudal peduncle). I don't see it on this fish. A. sp. Rio Acre (= A. sp. Rio Branco, named for the city, not the river) is the urteagai-complex species that comes from the Madeira. Perhaps it is this species. Don't compare it with the fish pictured in Römer's Atlas. The apisto pictured on p. 886, according to Dr. Staeck who collected the fish & took the photo, is actually A. urteagai. I'm pretty sure that the fish on p. 885 are A. urteagai, too. The fish on p. 887 are A. sp. Gelbwangen/Yellow-cheeks.
