Hi Alfredo, I have kept discus and apisto together in the past and still do. So far, my wild discus have been in the same tank as: A. borelli, A. cacatuoides, A. aggassizi, A. diplotaenia, A. rot punkt, A. maciliensis, A. elizabethae, A. sp pebas, A. trifasciata, D. filamentosa and M. ramiretzi (maybe a couple more species i can't remeber about right now). I never saw any aggressive behavior at the point where i had to get some fish out. When apistos or discus spawn, they do pretect their territory/eggs/fry but all went very well so far....except for A. sp pebas. The male and its 2 females were very aggressive. I would not keep that fish or any related fish in a community tank if you want to have a peacefull environment. I guess it might also be a question of volume and surface area. Mine is a heavily planted 75 gal tank and the pebas took over the entire tank in less than 5 hours and beat the crap out of everybody including the discus! I guess there are other experiences out there, some probably worse than mine so....i wouldn't make a general rule about what i've said. I guess, if you leave enough space for everyone (with respect with every species needs) that should not be a problem at all between apistos and discus. After all, some share some comon areas in the wild. hope that helps. LOL I've keeping Discus and Apistos together for a year now and had no problems, but I can't say what happens if one of them starts breeding since I haven't been that fortunate.
