Re: Things are starting to look up:-)

Yup, hard water and, at present, some shells. I am trying to get more shells and I need to get more sand. My biggest problem is getting my hardness up high enough 'cos my water comes out of the tap at 12ºGH/KH. I am now using the waste water from my RO units that I have for my apistos, but don't want to make it too hard.
I also have a few Egyptian mouth brooders and a couple of other Tanganyikans.
I'm not so sure that was so off topic. Sometimes I think we are all too conservative about what we describe as a dwarf cichlid, after all, my interest in these fish all started with the apistos and the more agressive apistos might legitimately off-topic if we were to classify DCs by their behaviour, I was specifically thinking of Apistos like sp. "Atahualpa".

They said "Smile, things could be worse." So I smiled, and sure enough...
