I've had this happen with my A. bitaeniata pair. After the male passed away the female became a beautiful male(?). I asked on this list what might be the cause and it seemed that the general consensus was due to old age. My bits were 2-3 years old. How old were your fish? Also when I asked, dicrossus sp. were mentioned as having the capability and possibily this trait is common in apistos. but on the whole I dunno :). david --- Nuno Prazeres <nprazeres@vodafone.pt> wrote: > Hi All, > > somebody just shared with me the following: > > after a few unsuccesful spawns of a A. cacatuoides > couple (the fry was always eaten by cory cats) the > male died.
