Yes, the pastel form is good looking. If you got these from Oliver, then 
they are probably a different fish. Koslowski (2002) wrote:

"Since the 80s a form has time and again been found in imports from Peru 
that has been conspicuous for its total lack of darker edged scales on 
the lower half of the body. In the immediate vicinity of the dorsal fin 
it shows a uniform paste blue-violet color above a line between the 
upper edge of the pectoral fin insertion and the anus, below which it is 
normally an olive yellow. The white submarginal stripe in the tail fins 
is very narrow and foten broken.  The balcke central part of the fin is 
expanded.  The lateral band that is two scales wide on the anterior part 
of the body can expand up to three scales wide in the caudal peduncle, 
but is usually masked by shiny pastel colord scales.

Three morphs are known of this form. They are differentiated by color of 
the interior part of the caudal and the breast. These areas are pale 
blue-violet in one morph. In a second they are insense yellow. In the 
third the breast is yellow and the caudal fin orange.

Old males become very robust and then even develop a slight nuchal hump. 
During brood care the female can usually be differentiated from other 
forms by their very dark slightly lustrous yellow base color and a 
lateral band theat extendsgreatly toward the rear. ..."
