Toxic Pheromones?

I just went to the local pet discount store and bought a 16 oz bottle of 
Amquel.  In addition to ammonia, chloramine, and chlorine, the new 
bottle also says it remove toxic pheromones.  Does anybody know what 
they're talking about?  Perhaps they're talking about the theoretical 
anti-growth hormones that I  have mentioned in a couple of times in the 
past in postings.
