Should be a big enough boy by now.

Very low hardness, does the pH stabilise at 7.9 in the
tank? Over here in Scotland the water comes out of the
tank at pH 8.5 but soon settles down to about 7 naturally
after whatever the water company does to the water (temp
hardness?) goes. It is then easy to lower using peat. If
you have the space you can pre-filter tap water through
peat before adding to the tank.
