Yes, this is true there are several paracitic catfish in South America. They are actually paracitic on the gills of fish and are attracted to the ammonia trail that a respiring fish leaves. They seem to confuse urine, or urea after it hits the water, with ammonia and follw the trail to the "source". They don't really want to "infect" man since they will eventually die in the wrong host.
