Re: Classification (was Panduro) -Reply -Reply

As a follow up comment to an earlier post I made regarding the
accidental description of Cynolebias antenori. to briefly recap, the
original description by the collector was insufficient for an official
description. Subsiquently, John Tulipano, from Chicago, wrote a brief 2
page article for JAKA in 1973. His article was intended purely as a
summary of his experience with the new fish as a hobbyist. It ends up
that he described the fish sufficiently to to be attributed as the official
describer.

Well John left the hobby before all this happened. Eleven years later,
John calls Scotty Davis asking about the Chicago clubs meetings. That's
when Scotty brought the whole affir to his attention. He was not even
aware of the honor!
