Sean, Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi is a West African Dwarf Egyptian mouthbrooder. I recommend you obtain one male to several females as he is quite a persistent chap. Females are rather drab in colour, pale yellow/green but the males are spectacular. I housed 1 male and 5 females in a 36 tank, pH 6.5-7.2. Copious amounts of hiding places for the females but their favourite was between the floating Indian Fern plants. Spawning takes place on the floor of the tank, the male first making a depression in the sand. The female immediately picks up the eggs and incubates them for approx 3 weeks. It is very clear when she is brooding as her lower jaw looks more like a Pelicans. When I noticed this I always removed the female into a maternity tank. About three days before she is due to release the fry I always put some newly hatched b.s. into her tank. Keep a watchful eye on her when the fry are released as some have a tendency to eat them. The fry are quite a good size and will readily eat b.b.s.. Once free swimming I remove the female to another tank and build her up for at least 2 weeks before returning her with the others. Best of luck Helen -----Original Message----- From: Sean Sheldon <sshel75514@hotbot.com> Subject: Pseudocrenilabrus nicholsi >Does anyone have any information on the above mentioned fish.
