Within driving distance?  :-)  Heh-heh...do you come here often?  Everything
takes at least an hour to get to...even with countless freeways with 5 to 6
lanes in each direction.

I dont know about stores in the high desert but LA area has one store that
carries apistos - Aquarium Stock at the corner of Beverly and Crescent
Heights in West Hollywood.  They had A. sp. Tucurui a couple of months ago.
There is another place that carries non-apisto dwarves and such called The
Aquarium in Mar Vista on Washington, west of Centinella.

If you are in Sacramento, however, go to Capitol Aquarium.  Wow, now there's
a store worth going to!
LA, unlike northern California, has lousy fish stores.
