RE: ph, gravel, and filters



There is an ancient Hawaiian myth that the black sand is cursed and if you 
remove the sand from it's rightful place, you will have bad luck.  So Kathy 
is everything OK?

Mike,
Now Erik can chastise me on this.  Yes we brought back Hawaiin sand.  You
actually can, the AG guys let you.

Unfortunately, we didn't get the black sand but rather some nice coral
reef stuff, with lots of microscopic shell (For our shelldweller tanks),
lugging it back in our suitcases
was fun.  I almost felt guilty about taking the sand (ie leave things in
the environment etc) but whan we came back two days later, a storm had
washed all of it but a tiny 3 ft spot back to the ocean.
Next time I will keep an eye on for some black, but that may be awhile.
