Re: Attention NYC Dwarf Finatics

While we are focussed on New York City, I want to let people know that Crystal Aquarium on 93rd St & 3rd is closing over the weekend. It has been a great store for 30 years. I was in yesterday and they had some stunning Aggies, Caucotoides, & Thomasi, as well as other interesting fish.

For a City of 7 million there are incredibly few stores where the owners know what they are doing and look for interesting fish, as opposed to the usual shopping mall stock. Crystal was particularly good for Killifish, unusual Ctenopomas, and always had several species of Pencil Fish. The fish were always in beautiful condition.

Here is a question: I have about a dozen Taeniatus fry, free swimming for about 2 weeks. Until a day or two ago, they roamed around the tank in a little herd, guarded by a parent. Now, the mother spends all her time gathering them up and putting them in a cave. When they escape, she scoops them up again. Just regular maternal overprotectiveness?
