What's in Discus Buffer and N. Regulator?  Do you know?  You DO know, 
however, what is in peat.  Tannins, and some humous stuff.  This is natural 
stuff that the fish are adapted to having in their water.  Is the stuff in 
Discus Buffer or N. Regulator natural?  I would strongly encourage you to 
return to the peat until you understand the nature of this other stuff.
