In ornithology the concept of subspecies is yet much used while in botany very few taxonomists used it at the beginning of the century, preferring the concepts of varieties and forms to describe morphological differences. In the discussions in our ornithological club I used to say that once any given population differs genetically from another, if these differences are visible morphologically, we call the population a subspecies, if we would group with the others, no matter how great are the genetic differences.
