Folks,

The text below is a one page (8.5x11" folded booklet, formatted article
attached) article I wrote for the American Livebearer Association. Please
make it available to aquarium societies (and their editors) or pass it to
someone who might be interested.

Thanks,

Chris

2000 ALA Convention

This year the American Livebearer Association will be holding their annual
convention in the Metro Detroit area on the 28-30th of April. This is the
10th independent convention for the ALA. The convention site is the Van
Dyke Park hotel in Warren, MI, 810-939-2860. Rooms start at $69/night plus
tax for 1-4 occupancy (YOU MUST ASK for group code "LIVE" for discount and
do so BEFORE April 15th). The hotel offers to their guests a complimentary
breakfast, indoor pool and exercise room. Contact Rich Serva,
rjserva@goodyear.com, 330-650-4613 or Dave Williamson,
dwilliamson223@hotmail.com <mailto:dwilliamson223@hotmail.com>,
330-945-4326 for more detailed info and a convention registration package.

The complete registration package deal (speakers, banquet, and tee shirt) is
$55/person before April 8th and $65/person after April 8th (speakers and
banquet only). The show and auction are open to all - free of charge.

Friday begins the convention with some short-topic speakers and the famous
hospitality room. The short-topic speakers will cover Plants and Livebearers
(Newell), and others to be determined (TBD) topics.

Saturday brings the open show room, 4 speakers, the banquet and banquet
speaker, awards presentation, and, again, the famous hospitality room. Some
of the speakers are David Schleser (fish diseases), Doug Sweet (fish
nutrition), Joe Shuryan (fishroom management) and one more TBD. Charley
Grimes will be the dinner speaker.

Sunday's events include the show awards presentation, the huge livebearer
auction (all other species come after the last livebearer is sold), and the
rare fish raffle drawings. Don't miss it.
