Emergency Board Meeting 9/8/99 - Scott and Victoria's place Membership/Treasury: One renewal over the summer. Current circulation is exactly 100, including exchanges and freebies. About 10 folks will be dropped next month. Public Relations: Discussed having a general poster for stores (ask Bob). This might be more appropriate next month when topics are better known. Library: Don is now assistant librarian. We have the entire Back-to-Nature series in the club library. Dave can get the "complete idiot" book at 1/2-Price Books. Recent videos of club meetings have been copied, should be in the library as soon as Scott finishes watching them. Philanthropy: Kathy suggested a field trip to Liberty High School to see the most recent project. This will happen within the next few weekends (?) and will be announced on the e-mail list. BAP moves to Don this month. HAP moves to Laurie this month. Fish of the Month: Dave will bring in Longfin White Clouds, and will be reimbursed $15 for three bags of four fish. Shows: We will raise the topic of continuing the bowl shows at the general meeting to see if anyone's interested. Erik mentioned having a home show this season, possibly in conjunction with the internet aquascaping contest. Laurie is interested in possibly spearheading it (Justin Collins of Bellingham is also interested in helping... he said at the picnic). Contests: We tossed around ideas for this year's newsletter writing contest theme. Kathy suggested making the deadline earlier so we can spread things over several subsequent newsletters. Best topic idea was "Fish Stories", nice and open-ended, possibly fictional (possibly VERY fictional, like many fish stories are). Picnic Followup: 10-15 people showed up. There was no official board meeting so we're floating the old board for one additional month. Board: Next meeting at Heather's. Victoria is officially now on the board (she's been coming to meetings regularly for over a year or two). Hospitality: Victoria will continue as chair, but notes we need to clear out some space in the file cabinet. General Meeting: Kathy, our official meeting scheduler, brought up several possible future speakers/topics: Lee Newman - collecting trip in South America, cichlids. He's in Vancouver. Mike Cowsert - keeps 300 tanks of angelfish. Dave will contact him. Dave - the killifish talk that had technical difficulties last time. Diane Elliott - Confirmed for November, disease stuff. Wayne Leibel - History of the hobby, maybe for June? Al Castro - a Tetra speaker, does Livebearers. -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com
