Diane is on board for NOV. Dave, any luck with the angel guy for Oct?? Thanks Kathy ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 17:56:27 -0600 From: Diane Elliott <Diane_Elliott@usgs.gov> To: Kathy Olson <kathy@thekrib.com> Subject: Re[4]: Speaking Kathy, I will be out of town for several weeks, but if you need to put something in an upcoming newsletter, you can advertise the title of my talk as "The Real Skinny -- A Close-up Look at a Fish's Skin in Health and Disease." I will be showing a lot of scanning electron microscope photos (and some light microscope ones) from my research (Western Fisheries Research Center, USGS) to explain how the fish's skin functions as a first line of defense against disease, and what happens when this defense fails. The scanning electron microscope photos are the ones that always remind me of driving a lunar lander over the surface of the skin. What time will the November meeting be? I was running the intensive care until and haven't been on email too much at all. November sounds great, as does your topic, I think you will be getting lost of questions, most people (me included) don't know how to approach fish diseases.....I definitely have the humans down...now that i can apply to fish. I know almost nothing about fish's skin.... I will try to keep in contact with you periodically.
