Mailing, and latest meeting "notes"

Hi guys,

I'm going to send out a postcard again this month. Scott was real good
and sent me a real meaty article he'd written a few years back on planted
aquaria, but I'm just too darn pooped out (between moving mother-in-law's
stuff, celebrating Kathy's new job, jet lag, and editing video from the NJ
meeting) to get it out on time. So I'm going to do the postcard thing, and
next month publish a newsletter with at least 2 articles in it (I will be
writing a "travelling aquarist" article about my recent jaunts to New
Jersey and Portland). This will also give us one more chance to regroup
(with more than four people at the board meeting) before the next mailing.

I can recap the meeting fairly easily without notes: Steve (A) was back,
and has offered to help. Scott was there, and has offered to take on more
of the president's jobs too. Dave was there (it was his home), and really
wants to see the newsletter survive. Sandy was there (because I announced
the meeting as an open fishroom night), and was a total pain as usual...
she is, however, on her own initiative, getting our meeting announced in
several newspapers' calendar sections, which is more than I or the rest of
us have ever done. (We'll see if it matters worth a whit.) We came up
with some ideas for articles that may appeal to the membership and might
be fun to write. Elsewhere in our booming aquaria mecca of the Pacific
Northwest, Dave noted the Kitsap club may be going under due to lack of a
board. Also, GPAS is had some big trouble with their recent show (there
is a pretty ranting article on it in the latest Fish Flash). Though the
mood was rather down, Dave noted that we'll probably weather this
particular downswing as the club has done in the past.
