Re: Last Night's Auction

Thanks Clay. It was really good from my perspective as well. Of the past
four "computerized" auctions, this went the smoothest. I think I only
heard about three "Uh...Erik!" panics in the whole night. We actually
finished EARLY this time, with the final bid being 9:40 or so, not 10:40.

Some fun stats:

Gross income $2923.50, minus $869.40 paid to splits. Net is $2054.10.

There were 289 lots auctioned in about two hours, which means 2.4 items
per minute! (Whew! No wonder we were so pooped out by the end!)

There were 54 bidder cards issued. The most number of items were bought
by #147, who purchased 30 items, closely followed by #112, who bought 27
items. Seven people bought more than 10 items.

Nifty Table!

                General Plant General Plant
                2001 2001 2000 2000

Bidders 54 39 57 38

Items Sold 289 231 411 328

So last year, we had about 120 more lots to sell (almost 50% more), which
explains why it took an extra hour. Likewise, same deal with the 2000
plant auction, which I recall took us past 10 PM. So it definitely helped
us to keep the number of lots down (especially by combining the "six
packs" of random manufacturer stuff). It probably also helped that we
didn't have an entire box of Fritz-Zyme and Jungle products. I think for
any of our auctions to get out on time, it's crucial to keep the number of
lots down below 300 (I remember that the plant auction in 2000 was just
brutal as well).
