RE: plant auction (fwd)

I think that a small plant auction in the fall would be good for the club
and help keep interest up as well. Maybe in conjunction with a plant
speaker. (maybe 25 to 30 exotics of some sort). We should have a good
supply from ANW for the auction plus there is going to be a Bunch of bog
wood. Don't members (Erik comes to mind :>) ) bring in a fair amount of
plants as well. I have some nice hair algae to contribute!

Erik,

Perhaps, we could offer the club the chance to mail order some plants on
another month, like September or something. We could put together a plant
order and send it to Robert. I would think that would work, if Robert does
not cut the club any kind of a deal at all. Do you think we might be short
of plants for the auction as it stands now? If so, then, I would say OK to
ordering from Robert to fill in the gap.

Umm, I probably shouldn't even bring this up; Robert is this guy in the
Portland area who basically sells directly to hobbyists mail-order. His
prices are (IMHO) often a bit too steep for us to then re-auction, and he
isn't giving us any special deals here, but the plants are more unusual
than most of what we usually get. So if we wanted to, we could
"supplement" the bulk order. I have already done this with some plants
from him two weeks ago, that are unfortunately slowly dying in holding
tanks. I was going to pass entirely here, but figured I'd ask if any of
you guys were interested.
