RE: Son of Masthead

Rick,

I think that would be a great idea.....but, I would like to work this into
our "Bylaws" when we put them together. I believe this is part of why every
non-profit club is required to have bylaws, to address these types of things
and document them in one place. I really think the Club would be better
served if we document all of this in one set of Bylaws.

Typing up the meeting minutes got me to thinking about this subject.

I would like to suggest that we make it an item of new business at the next
board meeting to document which positions are of necessity BOARD POSITIONS,
and which other positions may, or may not be fulfilled by a board member.
For example, President and Treasurer are just two examples of positions that
must be filled by board members. Whereas other positions (many of which are
listed below in Erik's email) might be filled by board members OR might be
filled by the general membership.

The results of the Board's decision would then determine whether or not a
particular "responsibility" would be listed after the Board Member's name in
the Masthead (among other places) or whether it would not. i.e.
Board-Member Positions WOULD be listed (Clay Hess, President), but
Not-Necessarily-Board-Member Positions would not be listed (Fish of the
Month) -- even if a Board Member happened to be filling that position.

Depending on how the other members feel about this suggestion, could Erika
use her "best judgement" for the masthead of the initial newsletter, and
then adjust it accordingly after the next board meeting?

Ah, I keep forgetting that you and Rick have essentially only had the
"Bob" experience. I think Bob never actually read any old newsletters,
but just took his source off the website. A shame, because there was a
lot of info there, and it was in fact more up-to-date than the website.
Check the masthead page on one of Joe's or mine before him. You'll see
these sort of positions: (updated by me to reflect current status)

Membership Coordinator Bob
Promotional Relations open
Library Bob
Philanthropy open (for now)
Breeder's Award Program Paul?
Horticulture Award Program open?
Fish of the Month open, should be assigned
Shows open
Contests assigned by contest
Winter Party open?
Summer Picnic open
Plant Auction Erik
General Auction open
Hospitality Sandy
General Meeting Coordinator open
Board Meeting Coordinator open

Yes, it's true that the website doesn't break them out like this, but
that's because I didn't think it was worth taking up so much space on our
front page, so I listed only the board members (annotating it with
whatever jobs they were known for).
