RE: Board Meeting - Pizza

Hi All,

I agree fully with Clay on this. I don't mind passing the hat to cover the cost of the pizza when we're meeting at a non-board-member's home; however, given that I spend a minimum of 8 hours each month just preparing for the board meetings and the general meetings plus special projects, I wouldn't feel any guilt about paying for these occasional expenses out of club funds either. On the other hand, realizing that I will probably not be hosting my "fair share" of board meetings (given the distance to my home) what I would feel guilty about is having the other Board-member-hosts always pay for all the pizza out of their own pocket. So, maybe for that reason, if nothing else, we should make it a habit to pass the hat.

That's my 2 cents,
Rick

Good Morning,

I was expecting that we would only have the Club cover pizza costs when it
was at a non-board members home. Kind of an incentive for folks to allow us
to hold a meeting at their house, if you will. I would only expect to hold
the Board meetings at a non-Board members home 2 or 3 times a year, thus,
$60 to $90 instead of $300. Many of the activities that I am involved with,
that have Board meetings, do something similar. This is the only reason I
suggested it. I am looking for ways to get more of the Club involved is
all. Just something to consider. If the majority of you do not feel that
the Club should cover this cost, I have no problem with that. But, I do
believe that the Board does enough hard work that they should not be
expected to cover all expenses out of their own pockets either.

Clay

I also feel, like Dave, that we should not have the treasaury pay for it.
Seems wrong to tax our entire membership for this. We're talking on the
order of $20-30 per meeting, and why would some people choose to pay out
of their pocket knowing that others would get reimbursed? So 10 x $30 =
$300 per year pizza budget. That's not a trivial amount of money, and
with the budget concerns brought up at the start of the year I'd rather
see it spent on an aquarium tour, for instance.

I do, however, beleive that it's appropriate to reimburse for pizza at the
two auctions, especially the general auction, becuase it's a lot of labor
and people come early to help (somtimes missing work to do so!), and it's
the night where we take in all the money for our treasaury.
