Re: Newsletter cost containment

Here's a thought I have had so I am just going to put it out to see what everyone thinks.

Many clubs are senidng out newsletters as pdf's by email, now I know the charter says we are to mail a notice each month but what if some members prefer email over US mail. Would it be possible to offer the members a choice? I personally dont like paper, I recieve too much now, and would choose to read the newsletter as a pdf. When there is something I need to see on paper, like a form, I print it out.

I had no idea the the newsletter was consuming such a large portion of each members dues, not to mention the freebie newsletters.

Subsequent to the board discussion on newsletter cost containment, I looked
at the data base. We send out newsletters to 15 people whose membership has
been expired for more than 6 months and another three whose membership
expired for 4 and 5 months.
Rick, you questioned if someone should hit the "purge" button". Doing so
could save the club as much as $200 a year. If it is to be done, please let
me know by Tuesday so I can reduce the number of copies to be printed.
I will add "Please email me if you wish to participate in nl exchange
program" notes in all those nonreciprocating exchange ones we send out and
see what we get.
If we reduce the number of nl sent out by 25, which is about what it would
be if we purge those long expired membership mailings and the exchanges that
drop out, it could save the club $200-$400 a year depending on number of nl
published in any year.
