Hi Bob,
I’m not sure if you’re looking
for board input, or only input from previous Programs Coordinators, but what
you’ve got sounds good to me. Since this will involve plane fare,
you might contact Portland GPAS to see if they want to coordinate and
share. The down-side is the additional headache of transportation, and
finding a date that works for both.
Rick

Subject: Speakers
Good morning,
I'm looking for comments and suggestions here in regard to the process of
lining up guest speakers. Being new to this game, I'm feeling a little uneasy
and hope to draw from the past experiences of those who have done this before.
Thought I'd start by approaching Mr. Yohan Fernando , the guy in Illinois who
David Spector has recommended. He does a presentation on wild bettas. (I
did forward David Spector's email on to you, didn't I? If not let me
know). Anyway, I came up with the following message which I'm submitting for
your approval, comments, criticisms and questions before I send it out.
Dear Mr. Fernando,
I'm Bob Holmes, President of the Greater Seattle Aquarium Society. We are
seeking a guest speaker on the subject of anabantoids. I have contacted David
Spector, President of the Pacific Northwest Betta Association and he has
referred you to us as an authority / speaker on wild bettas. Would you be
available and/or interested in coming out here and doing your presentation? The
dates we have open in 2004 are January 13, March 9, May 11 and June 8. These
are all Tuesdays. We meet at 7:30 pm at the Seattle Aquarium.
Thank you for your attention
Bob Holmes
So let me know what you think. Info left
out? Format OK? ETC.
Thanks
Bob
