RE: Bad news

Erik,

Is correct, we used to rent the room for almost nothing and then shared part of
the auction proceeds with them. If no one has talked with them yet, it may pay
to discuss our situation with them and let them know that we simply cannot be a
club and pay that much for use of the room upstairs. They may find a way to
accommodate us.....dunno. I have always enjoyed having the meetings at the
Aquarium and will be disappointed if they cannot work something out with
us....but, as someone else noted, there are other options available to us. Not
sure how the library will work though.

The Aquarium in the 80's used to give us access to the downstairs aquarium for
almost nothing for our Christmas banquet too. It seems with the new management
they have, comes new challenges.

Perhaps Dave or Clay might have some insight into this, but it's my
perception that the aquarium seemed to try and do this every year, but we
always explained we couldn't afford such things and they always backed
down. I know times have changed... it used to be that we paid something
tiny like $40 per month for the room back 5-10 years ago. Then again,
back then we also donated a percentage of our auction take back to the
aquarium, something that hasn't happened in years. So can't say I blame
em.

But yeah, that might be worth looking for another venue. Hey, might even
be able to find one withpout the degree of "fear" associated with the
aquarium.
