Here's the spell-checked version minus most of my typos (It's getting late.) Bob Holmes' Board Meeting Notes - January 22, 2004 * Treasury * Balance 3385.49 (no unpaid bills) * Plant Auction * Volunteers to be rounded up via GSAS-Board and GSAS-Member email lists and the newsletter. Need computer operators (3), auctioneers (3), tallier (1), Late check-in person (1), runners (usually 2 or 3), baggers (usually everyone who gets there early pitches in) and someone to bring pizza. * Plant Sources o African NW. Erik and Sam will arrange for a supply of plants. o I will contact aquastore.com, the people we bought the Kasselmann plant books from. They told me they donate to plant auctions. * Laptops - I (Bob) will ask Erik if June's Mac will work. Paul may have one. He has to check and see if it still works. I will ask for volunteer laptops along with the human volunteers via emails and there will be a request in the newsletter. * Publicity - We will run an ad in the Little Nickel. General feeling is that running ads in the Seattle and Tacoma papers is not worthwhile. Most non-members who have showed up over the last couple of years found out about it on the internet. o I (Bob) will quiz Erik about publicity in the past via GSAS-Board, which will also quiz past board members. o I (Bob) will inventory our supplies (bags, etc.) at the Aquarium well before the auction. * Home Show - I (Bob) will email Jeff to see where we stand, then write up a short reminder for the newsletter. We didn't talk about a newsletter article last night. * Newsletter - There will be something in it about Puget Sound Killifish Society, Auction Help, Need Assistant Editor, and the writing contest - also the Home Show. * Rainforest Tanks (Sandu) - Back burner, other than I may mention them as part of the Home Show blurb. * Meeting Location Research * Paul will check on the particulars of renting the yacht club facility. * I (Bob) will research community center meeting room availability through the department of neighborhoods. Also I'll look into what's available at libraries, fraternal organizations, and whatever else I can think of. * Membership * New Members 1) Simon Slagter (single) 2) Travis Pearl (single) 3) Jenni and Larry Litton (family) 4) Paul and Jennifer Wallace (family) * Renewal 1) Mer * Library - I (Bob) will do a complete new inventory of everything in the library. We can publish it in the newsletter or reproduce it for use as a handout. * Misc. * Documents - We agreed to spend a maximum of $30 to obtain GSAS Official documents from the secretary of state - $10 for a copy of Articles, and $20 for Certification. (Rick, what do you have as far as documentation?) * Speakers and Programs * March - Yohan Fernando - Wild Bettas * May - Thomas Waltzek - Loaches Ideas for future speakers and subjects 1) Lucanus - Importer, explorer, belowwater.com, Toronto. 2) Mac's Discus - Macdonald - local 3) Pond and Water Garden 4) Marine - Anthony Calfo - Corrals (Sandu)
