RE: Search update

Bob,

Are there any issues with us holding auctions at either the Port of Seattle or
SPU? Where is the Port of Seattle relative to the Aquarium? If it is north as
I fear it may be....the parking up that way can be really bad due to the number
of condos up that way. But, if it is south, then, maybe that works fine.

BTW, I think you are doing a great job with this effort and all the
Communication effort that you do for the club. I really appreciate all the
hard work you put into the club and I know we all benefit from your efforts.

Clay

Good morning
I came up with the following list of potential meeting places based on info
I gleaned from the City of Seattle website ( 20 pages of community meeting
places, but many of them not suitable for us) and from members' and
acquaintances' suggestions. There are more out there. These sounded like
the most promising so they went to the top of the list.
      Phinney Ridge Community Center
      Queen Anne Community Center
      Lake Union Community Center
      Center For Wooden Boats
      Port of Seattle
      Seattle Pacific University
For various reasons I have all but eliminated the first four. A couple of
them might work if we get really desperate. Those reasons include lack of
availability ( on Tuesdays), time and space limitations, shaky long term
availability projections and cabinet storage problems.
The two most common roadblocks that I have run into are that Tuesdays are
the busiest evenings of the week at these places and that we would not be
able to store our library cart.

The last two on the list, Port of Seattle and SPU, show the most promise.
The port facility is a cafeteria. Capacity is 40 people and is expandable.
Tables and chairs are provided and a screen is available. Good access.
Located at pier 69. $68 per evening. Again, no cabinet storage. SPU really
sounds like what we want and then some. The meeting spaces are
classrooms, some available with free floating tables and chairs which is
what we'd need. All are equipped with A-V equipment and screens. They rent
long term. Parking good. $75 per evening. I got a hesitant "maybe" on
storing the cart.

I'd like to check both the port and SPU out sometime next week. Would
anyone like to accompany me? If so, let me know via email or at the meeting
Tues.

Some food for thought; Here's a couple of rather unpleasant options I've
thought of that ought to be mentioned, just so that we can chew on them now
in case we have to swallow them later.
-Change meeting night to something other than Tuesday.
-Keep the cart at someone's house (not mine!) and check out books by
emailing or calling the librarian before an upcoming meeting to arrange for
books to be brought to the meeting (everyone gets a list of library books).
Then there's the coffee pot, hospitality supplies, auction stuff.....Ah,
forget it. This idea really sucks.

Anyway, the search goes on.

Bob
