If the fan is from a comupter it is likely a 12 volt fan so you will need a 
transformer to power it.

If you have any 9v- 15v power supplies (basic wall wart) around the house 
you could try one and see if it spins the fan fast enough/ too fast.

I have a box of these if you need one.
