RE: [GSAS-board] Amano shrimp, housepaint, Placidochromis "electra"

Title: Message
Susan,

I have painted large sections of my house and also refinished my wood doors with teak oil and polyurethane and never had any issues with my fish dying from the chemicals.  But, then, I kept the house well ventilated when I did this, as the fumes are tough on people too.  I get some really terrific headaches from latex paint fumes for instance.  If the fumes make you ill I would note that they could easily be harming your fish too.  Water/gas interchange occurs constantly in most all environments, so, fumes that affect you, most likely are permeating any aquarium water too.

Subject: [GSAS-board] Amano shrimp, housepaint, Placidochromis "electra"

Does anyone know how to breed Amano shrimp? Does anyone know if interior house paint is hazardous to fish? Has anyone done some repainting in a room with a fish tank and had fish die mysteriously? My shrimp and Placidochromis are spawning, and I am supposed to stay out of my apartment for a week while repairs are being done from the water damage. Would anyone like to take care of the Placidochromis “electra” fry? I believe they just hatched in the female’s mouth. I think they will be ready to come out in a week.
